Our City of Chico Assistant City Manager, Chris Constantin joined Katy Thoma for a one on one Zoom interview. Chris is the key City of Chico contact to assist businesses on the City’s behalf. The City considers every Chico business as essential which is why they are focusing on reducing COVID-19 exposure. Ep 28 – State of the City – 2019

Friday, February 15th we co-hosted the 2019 Business Summit & State of the City Address with the City of Chico. The Chico Chamber of Commerce released the 2019 Special Report Camp Fire from the Task Force on City Revenues & Expenditures, calling the City of Chico and community to continue to action around exploring a revenue measure to meet immediate community needs like housing solutions for creating more longtime housing availability, roadway improvements by dramatically increasing road funding, and a reduction in crime by funding a proactive policing model. 

The Chamber’s goal is to make Chico the safest, most premier, vibrant city in the North State. The 2019 Special Report can be found atwww.chicochamber.com.

Ep # 27 – “Love, Warriors, and Healers” – Camp Fire Recovery Conversation with Alexa Benson –Valvanis, North Valley Community Foundation

November 8th the Paradise community experienced the worst fire disaster in the history of California. With that, surrounding Butte County communities have also been impacted by this horrific event. We wanted to sit down with Alexa Benson-Valavanis, President & CEO of the North Valley Community Foundation here in Chico to learn more about how she and her team sprang into action by very quickly creating the Camp Fire Recovery Fund.

We began by getting to know a little more about Alexa and the history of the foundation followed by an in depth conversation about the Camp Fire Recovery Fund, NorCal Recovery Fund partnership with Aaron Rogers and how these efforts were successfully planned out and executed through NVCF by Alexa and her extraordinary staff. According to Alexa, it takes “Love, Warriors and Healers”.

Valerie shared her experience as both a founder and now consultant to organizations who choose to create value much larger than the organization itself.

Ep # 17 – 2018 Business Summit And State of the City

In January, the Chico Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the official 2018 Business Summit & State of the City Address with the City of Chico.

The Business Summit included an annual State of the City address by the Mayor of the City of Chico, Sean Morgan and a Business Climate Report from our Chair of the Chamber Board of Directors, Anastacia Snyder with Catalyst Domestic Violence Services.

The Chico Economic Snapshot for 2018, a one-page ‘overview’ of our local economy, telling us where the economy has been quarter to quarter and year to year since our base year of 2007, was delivered by Mark Francis with Golden Valley Bank. The Downtown Chico Report was also presented by Melanie Bassett, Executive Director of the Downtown Chico Business Association.

Ep 11 – YPO Leadership Luncheon With Chico Fire Chief Bill Hack

On June 21st, our City of Chico Fire Chief Bill Hack addressed our Young Professionals Organization at their monthly Leadership Luncheon.  Bill begins with a quick history of fire departments and his background, then moves on to discuss more local topics such as measuring fire staff performance, reducing risk in our community, and the future of our local fire stations.  At the end of the conversation Bill also adds in his thoughts on the “art vs. skill” of leadership and how important it is to have great messaging and communications skills.

This episode features Jolene Francis, CFRE, Director of Advancement & Communications of Enloe Medical Center speaking to our Young Professionals Organization Wednesday, February 15th at local establishment Nash’s Restaurant.

Since 1979, Jolene has enjoyed a professional career in both for-profit and non-profit industries of Chico.  Born at Enloe Medical Center, she feels very much at home guiding the activities of the Enloe Foundation, Marketing and Communications Departments as Director of Advancement and Communications.  She is also a Vice Chair on our Chico Chamber Board of Directors.
